Dibbie McCaughan

Dibbie McCaughanDibbie, a trained teacher, served in Malawi on two separate occasions with what was then the Overseas Board (now the Board of Mission Overseas) of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland.

Her first period of service in Malawi (1972-79) came after teaching in Ballycastle High School, when she taught in Kongwe Secondary School in the Nkhoma Synod of the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian(CCAP).  These seven years in Malawi had a significant impact on Dibbie's life and growth as a Christian.

After returning to Ireland in 1979, Dibbie taught in Ballymoney High School for six years.

In 1985, she returned to serve with the Church, this time through what was then the Presbyterian Women's Association (PWA), now known simply as Presbyterian Women. Initially, she took on the role of Overseas Secretary; then as General Secretary of PWA and Associate Secretary of the Overseas Board, a position she undertook with passion and commitment for eight years.

A period of teaching in Dunluce School in Bushmills preceded her return to Nkhoma Synod in 2000, this time to teach at the William Murray Secondary School which she did for nearly three years.

Before retiring, Dibbie served with Scripture Union NI in the Northwest of the Province.

Dibbie, who is Clerk of Session in Ballycastle Presbyterian Church, joined our Pastoral Advisor Team at the end of 2006.
