The term Deputation is, for some, a somewhat outdated word, maybe even a misnomer.
Put simply, it is the term we use where someone, 'deputising for' a person or organisation (in our case Presbyterian Mission Overseas), agrees to speak on their behalf.
Within Presbyterian Mission Overseas, the purpose of Deputation is to provide opportunities for members of our Church to hear about the work we are involved in around the world:
Those who undertake Deputation speaking engagements are normally our mission personnel who are back in Ireland for a period of home assignment, part of which includes deputation.
On occasions, members of our Executive Staff Team, members of the Board, or others with overseas mission experience may also be available to speak.
For advice on how to book a speaker and what you need to do once a booking has been made, or to find out who's available, follow the links on the left-hand side of this page.
Alternatively, you may contact us, explaining what it is you would like to know.
