Give

We are thankful to Almighty God who has supplied us with the resources we have needed, largely through the generosity of members of our own Church.

"Everything in heaven and earth is yours ... wealth and honour come from you ... everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand."
1 Cor 29:11,12 & 14

We thank all who in any way help meet the financial needs of our work.

We, on our part, seek to be good stewards of the funds entrusted to our care; and to use them wisely and in a way, we trust, that brings glory to our God - the giver of all and Lord of the Church.

Channels for Giving

Our ongoing involvement in Mission Overseas can only be sustained by continuance of this generous support. Those who wish to help fund our work can do so in a number of ways.

Two primary sources of income

  • United Appeal - This is the primary source of our funding. Every PCI congregation is given a target figure each year for the amount they are being asked to contribute to the United Appeal Fund. Funds received are shared between all the Mission Boards, as well as a number of other agencies. On average, Mission Overseas receives around 25% of the monies allocated by United Appeal, which in 2008 amounted to our receiving a grant of £1m.

  • Special Projects - At any point in time, we generally have quite a large and varied list of requests for funding from our mission partners overseas, with funding requirements ranging from just a few hundred pounds up to tens of thousands. Individuals or congregations can choose which project(s) they would like to support and make their donations through the Mission Overseas Office in Church House.

NOTE: Congregations wishing to support any of our Special Projects are honour bound to first meet their United Appeal target for the year in question.

Centrally-organised projects include

  • PW Birthday Project - Members of PW Groups throughout PCI give generous support to mission through the PW Special Project, which most years has an overseas focus, giving valuable support to specific needs of one of our overseas partners. For further information, contact Presbyterian Women.

  • Youth & Children's Project - This is an annual project, normally launched in September, which gives youth and children in our congregations the opportunity to support the work of mission overseas, and normally at home also. Involvement in the the project helps our young people to learn about another culture and appreciate some of the differences compared to our own, as well as understand something of the challenges and difficulties people (and the Church in particular) face in the situation the project is supporting. Go to YAC Projects for further details on the current project.

Advice on Giving

Our plan is that this section will in future contain further details on 'Giving', including advice and guidance on how you can reach a decision on how best to support the work of Mission Overseas.

We also intend to include information on how our personnel and the specific work they are engaged in overseas, can be supported by individuals or congregations.

Meantime, if you need any help or advice, please contact us, and let us know how we can be of help.
