Pray

Prayer changes things!

God has chosen to work through His people. When we join in with His mission through prayer, God is glorified and we can watch expectantly to see Him move in power to do immeasurably more than we ever ask for or imagine is possible!

We want to encourage you to pray for the worldwide church, and especially for the partners we are linked with overseas, as well as those who have been sent through Presbyterian Mission Overseas to work with them.

We also want you to remember to pray for members of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland who are serving overseas with other agencies. At present, approximately 140 members of our Church are involved with around 30 independent mission agencies in over 55 countries worldwide. You will find these people listed at the back of the 'Points for Prayer Handbook' (see below).

Prayer Resources

  • Points for Prayer Handbook - This booklet, which is published annually, contains a wealth of information about the mission of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland, both at home and overseas. For each day of the month, there are two pages: one covers an aspect of the Church's mission at home, while the other focuses on our mission overseas. Suggested 'points for prayer' are provided on each page. Coming in a handy A5 size, makes it easy to carry this booklet around and use each day. Listed at the back are the names of Presbyterians serving with other agencies overseas, indicating the agency, country or region, congregation and type of work they are engaged in. Contact us if you wish to obtain a copy.

  • Prayer Bookmarks - These are available for all our mission personnel. They come in a handy size that will fit into most Bibles. Information on each includes: name(s) and photo, country of service, a few prayer points, overseas address, and name and address of Prayer Secretary. Bookmarks are availale FREE from the Mission Overseas Office in Church House.

  • Prayer Letters - Our overseas mission personnel are encouraged to write a Prayer Letter at regular intervals. On average this usually means three to four times per year. Copies of currently available Prayer Letters are kept in Mission Overseas Office in Church House and are available FREE. Alternatively, you may contact the designated person's Prayer Secretary (see Prayer Bookmark for their name & address), and have your name added to the circulation list so you will receive future Prayer Letters when they are issued.

  • Prayerline - This is a weekly prayer information service that enables members of our Church to keep up to date with what's happening overseas, thereby ensuring that prayer support can be focused on the current needs and circumstances of PCI's overseas partners and our personnel serving in mission overseas.
