Members of the Board of Mission Overseas' (BMO) 2010 Malawi 'Go See' and Ukraine 'English Camp' Teams spent this past weekend together in Rostrevor for what proved to be a very helpful time of orientation and preparation for all they will encounter when they go overseas later this year.
Meeting in PCI's Rostrevor Youth Centre in South Down, located on the south-western fringe of the Mourne Mountains and close to the shores of Carlingford Lough, a total of 18 team members gathered along with BMO's Mission Education Officer, Nigel Eves, and Personnel Officer, Helen Johnston.
Rev Zoltan Les (from Transylvania in Romania) and Rózsa Drabik (from Debrecen in Hungary), 'Leaders-in-Training' from the Hungarian Reformed Church who are both studying this year at Union Theological College (UTC) in Belfast, joined the group for the first 24 hours, giving the Ukraine Team some very helpful insights into Hungarian history, culture and language.

The Malawi 'Go See' Team is a new venture for BMO and will be led by Rev Dr Jim Campbell, accompanied by his wife, Ruth. Jim is Minister Emeritus of Cooke Centenary Presbyterian Church, and he and Ruth are ex-missionaries to Malawi.
This all-age team is going to 'see' and 'learn' firsthand how our partner church in Malawi, the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian(CCAP), is meeting the challenges and opportunities in mission in their culture and context. On return, team members will share what they have seen and learnt, in the hope that congregations and individuals who hear their story will the catch the vision for, and be more strongly committed to, serving in God’s mission to the world, whether in Ireland or overseas.
The all-age team to going to Transcarpathia in Western Ukraine will lead an English-language teaching camp for young people, during which team members will have opportunities to share their Christian faith in creative ways, while also learning about the Church in Transcarpathia and of the challenges faced by Christians living there.
For the second year running, Edith Holmes, a member of Greystone Road, Antrim Presbyterian Church, will lead the team. She will be assisted by James Arthur, an Elder in Templepatrick Presbyterian Church.
