FRANCE: An intensive week of teaching at the John Calvin Faculty

Professor Gordon Campbell, Convener of the Board of Mission Overseas’ Leadership Development Committee, is making a short visit to Faculté Jean Calvin in Aix-en-Provence in the South of France.

Gordon, who is Professor of New Testament Studies at Union Theological College, was formerly a member of the fulltime teaching staff at at Faculté Jean Calvin (FJC) for a period of eight years.

On the occasion of this visit to Aix-en-Provence, he will be there from Tuesday, 3rd through to Tuesday, 10th January.

During this time he will be giving some intensive teaching in New Testament to undergraduate students in their 2nd and 3rd years. They will take a module in the Synoptic Gospels, concluding with an exam on Monday, 9th January.

He will also preach at the College’s weekly service on Thursday, 5th January.

This will be Gordon’s first public assignment since the funeral, last week, of his father who died at Christmas.

Safe travel; and presence of mind as he teaches, preaches and in all the contacts he makes.
The students taking this NT module – for their engagement with the Gospels and the course, the quick establishment of a good working relationship with Gordon and their stamina for an intensive course.
All undergraduate students at FJC as they prepare for a month’s placement (mid-January to mid-February) in a Church or para-church organisation.
Preparations and enrolment for the College’s annual theological outreach weekend (17th-18th February), on the theme ‘Gospel and Reconciliation’.
On-going renewal in FJC, as various retirements of key staff are worked through during this current 2011-12 academic year.
