Derek and Linda Roulston report that Phase 1 of the construction of Nanyuki Girls' Secondary School is progressing well.
Over the past few years, Derek and Linda who work with 'WHEAT Foundation International' [which seeks to improve Health, Education, Agriculture and the Environment in communities in Kenya], became involved with Nanyuki Girls’ Secondary School.
The school is located near Timau where the Roulstons are based and Linda has been meeting regularly with the girls at the school to talk to them about the challenges they face and spiritual issues.
At present, the 92 girls in the school are having to cope with very cramped conditions in the local primary school. Understandably they are eagerly awaiting a school of their own.
WHEAT is partnering with the local PCEA Presbytery in the construction of a new building for the secondary school to meet in.
Construction work on the school started on 12th February this year. Plastering and first electrical fit is almost complete on the main building.
If all goes according to plan, is hoped that the building will be completed by the end of May, with the girls moving into their new school in June.
"We are very grateful to our dedicated team of builders who are moving on with great motivation....Many thanks to people in Ireland who have assisted in one way or another to help make this dream come true."
