Presbyterian Church in Ireland - Mission Overseas - SAT-7: Christians and Churches urged to take part in Annual Day of Prayer

More than 800 churches have been invited to participate in the third annual SAT-7 Day of Prayer on Sunday, 1st November 2009. On that day churches in Europe, North America and the Middle East will join together to pray for SAT-7 and its viewers.

SAT-7 CEO, Terence Ascott, says:

“We’re grateful for the many churches that will be meeting on that day to pray for SAT-7 and its millions of viewers. The needs of our viewers in the region are great, and we as a ministry also have many needs, particularly during this time of global economic uncertainty. A number of the churches will take up a special offering, or give a percentage of their weekly offering on that day for SAT-7. We are deeply thankful for these anticipated prayers and the gifts.”

SAT-7 was created in November 1995 when a group of local Middle Eastern church leaders, and the representatives of several international ministries, working in the region, signed an agreement to form a new satellite TV ministry to support the work and witness of the Church in the region. At the time, Arab and other Middle Eastern Christians had almost no voice on local television airwaves. Since that day 14 years ago, SAT-7 has grown into a network of four channels broadcasting the message of God’s love in Arabic, Farsi and Turkish throughout the Middle East and North Africa.  

The SAT-7 Day of Prayer was inaugurated three years ago as a way to let viewers know more about how God is using the ministry, and to encourage them to pray more for it.  

On 1st November, 2009 SAT-7 will air some 'live' programmes, encouraging viewers to call in and talk about how God has used SAT-7’s broadcasts in their lives. Viewers will also have a chance to meet some of SAT-7’s leaders, and to ask them questions about the channel. In addition to the special TV programmes, a number of churches in the Middle East and across the world will have special meetings, dinners and events to pray for SAT-7 and the needs of its viewers.
