Overseas Mission Teams 2010

3rd December 2009

Details of the Summer 2010 short-term Overseas Mission Teams being organised by PCI's Boards of Mission Overseas (BMO) and Youth & Children's Ministry (YAC) are now available.

Between the two Mission Boards, plans are in hand to send teams to Malawi (2), Mexico, Romania, Ukraine and London.

BMO is organising two teams. For the fifth year in the past six, another team is going to Western Ukraine, to help run an English Camp for young people. Breaking new ground, BMO is sending a 'Go See' team to Southern Malawi, with the aim of enabling participants to learn from our partner church, the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP), so they can share their experiences on return and thereby help congregations and individual to 'catch the vision' for active engagement in God's mission to the world, whether in Ireland or overseas.

Following the success of this past summer, YAC is sending another team to Cluj in Romania, to work alongside Csaba and Ilona Veres. Plans are in hand for another family team to Mexico. New for 2010, will be a team going to London to work alongside PCI-supported Kenyans, Edwin and Anne Kibathi and family, in their work with PCEA UK Outreach.

Finally, BMO and YAC have come together to jointly organise a specialist 'Teachers' team, which is going to Northern Malawi to assist Diane Cusick (and also Fiona Innes, who, God willing, will be in Malawi by that time) in the running of workshops for those who in turn train other nursery school teachers.

Details of these teams can be obtained from the BMO and YAC websites (see links below), or their respective offices in Church House.

With Application Closing Dates in January (dates differ for different teams), congregational leaders are encouraged to make sure that their members are fully informed and made aware of all the opportunities on offer.

Information on BMO teams is also being posted out this week to ministers and congregational mission agents.
