Feba is a Christian charity which enables the broadcasting of radio programmes and audience relations to address people's physical and spiritual needs in Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
Feba broadcasts in more than 60 different languages to countries across Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Many of Feba's programmes are aired on short wave, but an increasing number are being broadcast on local radio as well.
There is a wide variety of programmes – for men, women, children; ones looking at health and family issues, some looking at farming; Bible studies; straightforward reading of scripture; programmes for pastors – and so on.
Most of the programmes are made in the area where they will be broadcast and by people from that area, as they know the people, culture and language best.
On short wave, Feba uses radio stations in, among other countries, Russia, South Africa and Ascension Island, even though they do not own them. Feba also uses a growing number of other local stations; some Feba-owned and some where Feba works in partnership with others.
Feba receives many responses from its listeners – letters, emails, phone calls, texts, even visits – as well as reports of people listening. The potential audience is huge, but Feba doesn't know how many actually listen to its progammes.
William Mateer, who became Feba Representative for Ireland in May 2009, says of his new role: "I’m looking forward to meeting many people right across the length and breadth of Ireland. Quite a lot of folk don’t really know much about Feba. It’s my job now to tell them about Feba and the work that Feba is doing in the rest of the world.”

Radio ministry is strategic in aiding the spread of the Good News of Jesus and in making Christian teaching available in local languages to vast numbers of people around the world, especially in countries where it is difficult or impossible to share the Christian message with those who have never seen or read a Bible or heard about Jesus Christ.
Together with agencies involved in Bible Translation and Distribution, Christian broadcasters play a vital role in supporting the life and witness of the worldwide Church, as well as in the extending of God's Kingdom. These Special Service Agencies, or SSA's, are doing what no one church or denomination can easily do, playing a vital role in the building of God's Kingdom around the world.
Recognising the importance of Christain broadcasters and other SSA's, in Presbyterian Mission Overseas we are beginning to explore ways in which we can forge closer links with both Feba and the SAT-7 Satellite TV Network.
To this end, we commend the work of these two broadcasters and would encourage our congregations to support them in any way they can.
