Wycliffe Bible Translators (WBT)

Wycliffe Bible Translators logoWycliffe Bible Translators believe that the Bible is the best way for people to come to know and understand who God is. Our vision is that by working with churches, organisations and individuals from around the world all people will have access to God's word in a language that they truly understand.

Worldwide there are over 300 million people who do not have access to the story of God's love for his people - the story of the Bible - in the language that they understand the best, their 'heart' language.

Wycliffe's vision is that:

"By 2025, together with partners worldwide, we aim to see a Bible translation programmebegun in all the remaininglanguagesthatneed one."

To this end, Wycliffe exists to serve the worldwide church, partnering with churches and individuals to make the Bible available to every people group – helping to carry out Jesus' command to make disciples of all nations.

Wycliffe UK is part of an international family of organisations with around 6,000 members from 60 countries. For more about the family of organisations, take a look at Wycliffe International.

The work of the Bible Translation in making the Scriptures available in a multitude of languages is strategic in aiding the spread of the Good News of Jesus Christ, as well as giving countless thousands the opportunity to own and read a Bible written in their mother tongue. Yet the remaining task is immense.

Together with agencies involved in Bible Distribution and in Christian Broadcasting, agencies such as Wycliffe play a vital role in supporting the life and witness of the worldwide Church.

These Special Service Agencies, or SSA's, are doing what no one church or denomination can easily do, playing a vital role in the building of God's Kingdom around the world.

Recognising the importance of Wycliffe Bible Translators, the Bible Societies and other SSA's, in Presbyterian Mission Overseas we are seeking to forge closer links with Wycliffe (acting through its office in Belfast), as well as the Bible Society in Northern Ireland (BSNI) and the National Bible Society of Ireland (NBSI).

To this end, we commend the work of Wycliffe and these two Bible Societies, and would encourage our congregations to support them in any way they can.
