The AKSZA Mission to Street Children exists to bring about transformation in individual children, as well as families and communities, through its service to those who are poor, needy, orphaned, socially exluded or live on the street.
Currently, the mission serves around 30 children either through its residential or day-care programmes. AKSZA's dedicated staff team cares for a multi-ethnic group of children from three main cultures: Roma (Gypsy), Romanian and Hungarian. The primary goal at AKZSA is to show the love of Christ and to encourage the young people and children to follow Him.
The AKSZA Mission was born out of a God-given vision at a Women's Association conference in 1998. The work of the mission began in 2001 and, since then, the staff and volunteers have cared for up to 60 children.
The mission house is part of a wider diaconal work of the Women's Association in Transylvania, and of the Hungarian Reformed Church(HRC) in the region.
The name of the mission 'AKSZA' (Acsah) is the name of Caleb's daughter, who asked her father for springs of living water (Joshua 15:19). The mission seeks to bring children living on the streets in Cluj, as well as children at risk, to the spring of life, the Lord Jesus Christ.
AKSZA is committed to love and care for vulnerable children. Its goals include the integration of children in need i to society, enrolling them in educational institutions and providing a loving home without ethnic or social discrimination. The mission's primary goal is to show the love of Christ and encourage the young people and children to follow him.

Ilona Veres has been working on the AKSZA staff team since the mission house was first opened in 2001.
Ilona is also a member of the Board of the Caleb House Foundation that oversees the work at Caleb House (see below).
A more recent development has been the setting up of Caleb House . Arising out of the ministry of AKSZA, a need was identified to provide care and life skills teaching for the over 18's in preparation for independent living.
Caleb House seeks to meet this need by demonstrating the love of Christ in pratical ways to those who have grown up in care; and to assist these young people to manage the transition from living in care to living independent lives.
