Torre del Mar Congregation, IEE

Rev Jacki Hartsmith-Foy, minister of Torre del Mar IEE congregation Torre del Mar Church (TDMC) is an English-speaking evangelical, Bible-believing church fellowship, which is part of the Spanish Evangelical Church (IEE) and supported by Presbyterian Mission Overseas.

Situated in the province of Málaga, and belonging to IEE's Presbytery of Andalucía, the church was planted over 20 years ago to enable English-speaking people of all denominations and none to meet with others and worship in their own language.

It is TDMC's vision to see Spanish and English Christians working side by side and building relationships and expressing God’s love and mercy as they share Christ with all people in Spain.

Church services are held at the Hotel Torremar, with the Sunday morning service normally starting at 11.30 am, downstairs, in the Picasso Room. Hotel Torremar is very central and just off the seafront, so it's not difficult to find. Lunch is available in the hotel, if desired, and there is a coffee shop where people can meet and chat with their friends.

Everyone attending a TDMC's service is invited to stay on afterwards for coffee or tea; and so that they can get to know members of the TDMC family. There are Special Services at Pentecost, Harvest, Passover, Easter and Christmas, as well as services dedicated to new members, mission, outreach and healing. Bible studies are held each week. Members of TDMC use various means in their outreach to English-speakers living in the area, including: picnics and trips to the local beauty spots, as well as regularly running Alpha, Ten and Christianity Explored courses.

Torrox Park Outreach

At the beginning of 2009, TDMC started Torrox Park Community Church (TPCC), which is a new satellite church, providing an outreach to a community a few miles from Torre del Mar.

After a year of prayer, TDMC's members believe that this is where the Lord has led them to be 'a light' to the community. It is a new-style church, not the type familiar to most church-goers! This is not because of a desire to be different, but simply due to the need to be relevant for today, where doing things in the 'traditional way' cuts no ice with those outside the Church. Hence the need for a fresh expression of Church, whilst not rejecting essential Christian beliefs or hiding 'The light' under a bushel.

To begin with, meetings are being held just once a week, on a Thursday. The church service is very informal and includes group discussion on topical issues with opportunity for anyone to join in. A successful kids' summer holiday club, Seaside Rock, has been useful in making local people more aware of the existence of Torrox Park Community Church.

A TDMC service
