Dromore Presbytery
Young Peoples' Discipleship & Street Children's Ministry

Csaba and Ilona Veres and family live in the city of Cluj, serving in areas of youth and children's ministry that come under the influence of the Hungarian Reformed Church (HRC), our partner church in Romania.
Csaba is Programme Coordinator and responsible for International Relations for IKE - an independent youth movement within the Transylvanian District of the Hungarian-speaking Reformed Church in Romania. Working with local church-based youth groups, IKE provides leadership training; and organises and runs youth programmes, mission events and summer camps. Csaba previously worked for IKE full-time and served for four years as General Secretary of IKE, stepping down from this role in 2008.
As well as working for IKE, Csaba spends up to two days a week assisting with paperwork related to Caleb House, where PCI's Darren and Nicola Aitcheson were, until recently, serving as houseparents to the young people who live there. This is the halfway-house for teenagers who are too old to remain at the Aksza Mission Home but need a place to live and help in making the transition from living in care to living independent lives in the wider community.
Ilona currently serves with the Mera Children's Project; teaches at the Reformed Montessori Pre-School; and continues on the staff at the AKSZA Mission to Street Children, located at the Aksza Mission House in Cluj, which is part of a wider diaconal work of the Women's Association in Transylvania and of the HRC in the region. Ilona is also a member of the Board of Caleb House, an 'aftercare' home for former Aksza Mission House residents who are aged 18 or over and undergoing further education.
The AKSZA Mission serves around 30 children either through its residential or day-care programmes and exists to bring about transformation in individual children, as well as families and communities, through its service to those who are poor, needy, orphaned, socially exluded or live on the street. The dedicated staff at AKSZA care for a multi-ethnic group of children from three main cultures: Roma (Gypsy), Romanian and Hungarian. The primary goal at AKSZA is to show the love of Christ and to encourage the young people and children to follow Him.
In addition to their work throughout the year with IKE and AKSZA, each summer, Csaba and Ilona organise various summer camps for children and young people, often involving teams from overseas, including various groups from within PCI.
