The week of prayer called for by the United Mission to Nepal (UMN) continues until this coming weekend. UMN staff members are meeting twice each day to pray for the country of Nepal, its people and the work of UMN. The key areas and topics they are focusing on are:-

Janet Campbell will facilitate a quiet day of prayer and Bible study for UMN and INF expatriate staff this coming Sunday 13th September. The Nepali church meets on Saturdays.
Prayer Points –
This Saturday afternoon (12th), Joe Campbell and a group of four Nepali politicians and three senior civil servants will arrive in Dublin for a week-long sharing and learning visit on peace work. After the ten-year civil war in Nepal, a peace agreement was signed in November 2006. However, building cross-party support for a coalition government has proved very difficult. The group, which is being led by the Minister of Peace and Reconstruction, will have the opportunity to meet with political leaders and government officials, both in Belfast and Dublin. Next Monday (14th) evening, the Board of Mission Overseas (BMO) is hosting a dinner for the Nepali delegation, whose members represent the three main political parties in Nepal.
Prayer Points –
Grenville Hopkinson continues to lead and guide the development of UMN's next five-year strategic plan due to go to the Nepal government for approval in early 2010 and begin to be implemented in July 2010.
Georgie Hopkinson is chairing the group who will appoint the new Pastor of the Kathmandu InternationalChristian Congregation (KICC) and over these days meetings are being held, applications reviewed and decisions are being made.
Prayer Points –
A number of mission personnel are on home assignment and are will shortly begin a period of deputation. These include: Heather Lennox (Jamaica), Mervyn & Raing McCullagh (Indonesia), Gary & Mary Reid (Kenya), Derek & Linda Roulston (Kenya), David & Maggie Steele (Malawi) and Darren & Nicola Aitcheson (Romania).

Two teams, from Kilkenny Presbyterian Church, are going to Eastern Europe this month. We would encourage you to remember them in prayer.
CROATIA – A team of five people are going to Zagreb, Croatia to work with the Reformed Church there and its pastor, Branimir Bucanovic from 10th to 17th September. The group will be leading Sunday services and Bible studies as well as distributing literature, conducting conversational ESL classes and doing some practical work on church premises.
ALBANIA – A team of three people will be in to Albania from 15th to 22nd September as part of a WEC Prayer Trek to support WEC missionaries on the ground, encourage local believers and investigate new opportunities.
